My Journey
My path to becoming a doula began when I witnessed the birth of my sister’s first child. It was the first birth I had ever seen, and I remember standing there, watching as the hopes and intentions she held for her birth began to slip through her fingers. The room felt fast, clinical, and impersonal as her voice was dismissed and her choices were overlooked. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know how to speak up, and I didn’t know how to support her. All I could do was watch her settle for less than what she deserved.
That helplessness stayed with me and that moment became a spark that pulled me towards birth work. The more I learned about what a doula was, and what support looks like in the birth space, the more it all started to make sense. I felt God gently nudging me toward something I’d never imagined for myself. Something I had been quietly molded for, with the empathy, presence, and care I’ve always carried within myself.
As I stepped into this world of birth work, I began peeling back the curtain on how birth is often presented to us. How much fear and control surrounds it, and how many people walk away from it carrying trauma that could have been prevented. I learned what birth can look like when someone is truly supported, and I knew I wanted to be part of that shift.
I don’t believe trauma should be a part of so many birth stories, and I don’t believe birth needs to look a certain way to be powerful. Whether your journey includes interventions, medication, uncertainty, or deep intuition, your story is valid. My role as a doula is to walk beside you with grounded, intentional support to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered however your birth story unfolds.
A little extra about me…
Outside of my work as a doula, my life is filled with a lot of simple things that bring me joy and help keep me grounded. I really value living a balanced life, staying connected to my faith, taking care of my body, enjoying the little routines of everyday life, and making time for the hobbies that help me relax and recharge.
My faith is a really important part of who I am. I’m a Christian, and being involved in my church community is something that shapes the way I live my life. My relationship with God influences the way I care for others and the way I move through the world.
I also work at Starbucks as a barista. Coffee has always been a big part of my life. I genuinely enjoy the craft of it, learning about different beans, brewing methods, and what makes each coffee unique. There’s something really special about getting to be part of people’s daily routines, even in small ways like making their morning coffee.
I’m also really interested in wellness and natural living. I love learning about herbs and natural ways to support the body, and I’m almost always experimenting with different herbal tea blends. Movement is another big part of my life. Strength training has been something I’ve really grown to love and it helps keep me feeling strong and empowered.
When it’s time to relax some of my favorite ways to unwind are watching anime, reading books, and playing video games. I love a good story and getting lost in a different world for a while.
More than anything though, I really value connection. I love deep conversations, meaningful friendships, and spending time with the people I love. Whether it’s sharing a meal, having a long conversation over coffee, or just being present with people, those moments are some of the most important to me. At the end of the day all I need is my faith, my family, and my closest friends to keep me going.
